The Higher Education Commission, (HEC) orders Universities to Provide Updated details

The Higher Education Commission, (HEC) has ordered all the universities, whether they are private or public, to provide Pakistan Qualifications Register updated details of information. Pakistan Qualifications Register is a part of National Qualifications Framework (NQF). This department has an online data-base where all the details and information of all private and public universities are registered. This system is adopted all over the world. Basically, PQR keeps the list of all the courses being taught in the country and keeps check on the standards of education and also provides academic assistance to the Universities.PQR defines level of awareness, talents and aptitudes that should be gained by graduates. The letter issue to Universities regarding this registration in PQR reads,’ “in order to facilitate graduates of such programs in degree attestation process they were permitted to upload the correct information. The information uploaded by graduates was checked manually and accepted by the HEC on the basis of physical verification.” And further, “It has been noted that there are some duplications or mistakes in the degree titles as well as typographical errors etc. in the data available in PQR. This has been causing delays in the degree attestation process and inconvenience to graduates as well as HEC staff.” Although majority of universities have updated the PQR system, still a few Universities have not updated. HEC has also instructed to check the previous list first before updating, so that there are no repetitions. PQR system was first started in 2016. All educational boards also install there records in HEC online data base.
