The written entry tests will be taken for admissions in (Semester Autumn, 2018) in AIOU. The tests are announced to be started at 9am on October 24-25 at Academic Complex. The tests are for M Phill programmes are MPhil Arabic, MPhil Chemistry, MPhil Mass Communication, MS Community Health and Nutrition, MSc Public Nutrition, MSc Statistics and Col MBA/MPA.

Tests for PhD programmes include: PhD Chemistry, PhD Food and Nutrition, PhD History, PhD Physics, PhD Statistics and Zero Statistics. The University has invitation letter of participation in entry tests to candidates and those who will pass this test will be called for interviews.

The admissions will be done on merit and transparency of selection will be ensured according to the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Mahmood.

University of Sindh to Remain Closed Owing to 275th Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai

The registrar of university announced on Tuesday that University and all its campuses will remain closed on 24 October. Other than University of Sindh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Science and Sindh Agriculture University have also announced holiday due to Urs of Shah Bhittai. The Urs of Shah Abdul Bhittai begins on 14th Safar( Islamic month) every year.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is regarded as one of the best Muslim poet of Sindhi language. His poems are compared with Persian poets Rumi and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. His work is still pursued in modern day poetry. Last year, on the occasion of Bhittai’s 274th Urs, a student from University of Sindh dedicated a sculpture of Bhittai which unveiled in front of the Bhit shah rest house. His Urs celebrations every year is symbol of the respect he has gained through his work. His art is an inspiration for Pakistani students and his work is treasure for Sindhi culture.
